Friends Meeting of Washington
Meetings for Worship
ON THE MEETING GROUNDS
Sundays
9:00 AM - In the Meeting House Parlor. This is a small
meeting with an intimate, centered peace. (disability accessible
from Phelps Place gate, via the Meeting room)
10:30 AM - In Quaker House Living Room (next door to the Meeting House on Decatur Place second floor — it’s the room at the top of the stairs). This is a meeting of 35-40 people with a special welcome to lesbians and gays. All are welcome and many different people attend this meeting with its special sense of family.
10:30 AM - In the Meeting House Meeting Room. This meeting
usually brings 80-100 people together. Those who feel at home in
a large gathering of Spiritual Light welcome this time to open to
a broad spectrum. Quakerism in the nation’s capitol is a unique
variety, and in the silence here one will find enhanced perspectives.
(disability accessible from Phelps Place gate; hearing assistance
system)
6:00 PM - In the Meeting House Decatur Place Room. This is a small, tranquil group at a time especially useful for some, where occasionally special concerns may be held in the light.(Entrance at Decatur Place door — single step)
9:15 AM, first Sunday of the month - The Washington DC area
Worship Group for Friends of Color meets upstairs in the Terrace
Room. The group, which is under the care of Langley Hill Friends
Meeting, seeks to provide a comfortable place for silent worship
and fellowship for those who share a common experience. People of
color who are members/attenders of local meetings, those who attended
or who are sending their children to Friends schools, and those
who work for Quaker organizations are all invited, as are their
families. For details contact: Claudia Wair at quakerclaudia yahoo.com
or Diane McDougall at 202-722-2715 or diane.mcdougall verizon.net.
Wednesdays
7:00 PM - In the Meeting House Parlor - For some, gathering in a small, peaceful group is the best way to refresh one’s spiritual self at midweek. (Handicapped accessible by prior arrangement — call staff)
